Similar to the Category View, Course view provides admin a quick glance at the learner enrolments, learner engagement and course completion for a particular course. It facilitates comparative analytics for learner performance on a particular course and provides insights on content quality.
To access the category view, you can either select the View Analytics option from (…) More menu for a course under the Courses tab or select a specific row from the courses grid in the Category View page.
In this article, you will learn more about different metrics and reports available to the administrator as part of learner analytics for a specific course:
Permissions Level
The Microsoft Community Training management portal provides role-based administration and depending upon the type of access level administrator can perform an action on the portal. Table below shows administrative role which can access the course view:

Insights on learner’s enrollment and course completion
This section in the course view enables an admin to view learner enrollments and course completions over time for a given course. For example, image below shows the information for Simple diagnostics course.
Learners enrollment over time
The graph provide information about all the unique learners enrolled for a specific course over time. Hover over the title to view the description of this graph.
The values that are measured are:
• x -axis — Timeline
• y-axis — Number of unique learners registered for a particular course
As shown in the image below, there are 34 unique learners enrolled on the portal for the course.
Course enrollment/completion over time
The graph provide information about total course enrollment and course completion across all the courses under a given category over time. Hover over the title to view the description of this graph. The values that are measured are:
• x -axis — Timeline
• y-axis — Total no. of course enrollments/completion across for a particular course
As shown in the image below, there is 1 unique user who has completed the course on the portal.
This view gives a graphical representation on the growth in the number of course enrolments and course completions for all courses for a given category over a period. The data presented can help take corrective measures if the course completion curve falls below the course enrolment curve by a wide margin.
Learner Performance
This section in the course view enables an admin to track learner’s progress and compare performance for a given course. In the table below, for each learner, you can see the completion percentage, no of lessons completed, no of quizzes completed (including exams), average quiz score percentage (including exams).
From the learner performance grid, you can:
- Click on the respective column headings to sort the rows by any column.
- Click Download List to download the data into an Excel sheet.
- Select a row to view detailed information about individual lesson progress and quiz performance for the course.
Lesson grid
This section in the course view provides information on the number of learners who has completed a particular lesson in the course. In the table below, for each lesson, you can see the # of times the lesson has been completed.
From the lesson grid, you can:
- Click on the respective column headings to sort the rows by any column.
- Click Download List to download the data into an Excel sheet.
Quiz grid
This section in the course view provides information about the overall performance of trainees in different quizzes of a course. Including the # of questions in the quiz, average score and difficulty level. In the table below, for each quiz, you can see total # of questions in the quiz, total # of attempts by all learners, average quiz score and difficult level.
From the quiz grid, you can:
- Click on the respective column headings to sort the rows by any column.
- Click Download List to download the data into an Excel sheet.
